Guild of Students. Mermaid Square.

TibbattsKirkAbel proposed a redevelopment of the historic Mermaid Square and Guild of Students building to encompass both recreational and administration facilities. The major concept includes a redesign of the Mermaid Square to promote active life within the currently underutilised central courtyard.

A second geometry has been juxtaposed alongside the existing formal internal and external layout and elements continue from the courtyard, through the public internal spaces and out into the gardens beyond, therefore creating direct links and clear routes between internal and external spaces.
